Drug-Free Communities Grant
The DFC Support Program provides grants up to $125,000 per year for five years to community coalitions to strengthen the infrastructure among local partners to create and sustain a reduction in local youth substance use. The two main substances we are addressing are nicotine/tobacco and marijuana, especially in how they are used through vape devices.
NYS OASAS Special Populations Grant
Uplift Irondequoit’s newest grant is funded by the New York State Office of Addiction Supports and Services and focuses on ‘special populations’ – sub-groups within communities across the state who may not have been adequately supported by existing substance use prevention efforts. Locally, the LGBTQ+ community was identified as having a need for more tailored prevention services. Uplift has begun building coalition membership and support from individuals representing many sectors of the community who are invested in not only substance use prevention, but also supporting the health and wellness of the LGBTQ+ community. Together the coalition will gather data, plan multi-level approaches, and implement services to advance this effort.
State Opioid Response Grant (2019-2023)
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), administers the State Opioid Response grant program. The purpose of this program is to address the opioid overdose crisis by providing resources to states and territories for increasing access to FDA-approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder (MOUD), and for supporting the continuum of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery support services for opioid use disorder (OUD) and other concurrent substance use disorders. The SOR program also supports the continuum of care for stimulant misuse and use disorders, including for cocaine and methamphetamine. The SOR program aims to help reduce unmet treatment needs and opioid-related overdose deaths across America.
